How to Use This Calculator
- Enter your mower's cutting width in feet (this is the width of the cutting path).
- Enter your mower's ground speed in miles per hour (this is how fast your mower moves across the ground).
- Click the "Calculate" button to determine how many acres your mower can cover per hour.
Understanding the Formula
The calculator uses the following formula to determine acres per hour:
Acres Per Hour = (Cutting Width (feet) × Ground Speed (mph) × 88) ÷ 43,560
This formula works because:
- 1 mile = 5,280 feet
- 1 acre = 43,560 square feet
- Therefore, 1 acre = 5,280 × 5,280 = 27,878,400 square feet
- So, 1 square foot = 1 ÷ 27,878,400 acres
- Converting to feet per mile: 1 mile = 88 feet
- Therefore, 1 acre = 88 × 88 = 7,744 square feet
- Thus, 1 square foot = 1 ÷ 7,744 acres
Example Calculation
For example, if you have a mower with a 42-foot cutting width that moves at 3.5 miles per hour:
Acres Per Hour = (42 × 3.5 × 88) ÷ 43560 = 3.18 acres per hour
Practical Applications
This calculator helps you:
