Calculation Formula

Anhydrous Basis = Wet Basis / (1 - Moisture Content/100)

Where:
Wet Basis: The percentage of total material by weight including moisture
Moisture Content: The percentage of moisture in the wet material
Anhydrous Basis: The percentage of dry material by weight

Learn how to use the Anhydrous Basis Calculator for accurate moisture content conversion

How to Use the Calculator

  1. Enter the Wet Basis percentage in the first input field. This is the total percentage of material including moisture.
  2. Enter the Moisture Content percentage in the second input field. This is the percentage of moisture in the wet material.
  3. Click the Calculate button to compute the anhydrous basis.
  4. The result will be displayed in the Anhydrous Basis field.

When to Use This Calculator

This calculator is particularly useful in agricultural, chemical, and industrial applications where moisture content needs to be standardized. It helps in comparing materials with different moisture levels by converting them to an anhydrous (dry) basis.

Example

Suppose you have a sample with a wet basis of 75% and moisture content of 15%. The anhydrous basis would be calculated as:

Anhydrous Basis = 75 / (1 - 15/100) = 75 / 0.85 ≈ 88.24%

Principle Behind the Calculation

The anhydrous basis is calculated by dividing the wet basis by (1 - moisture content/100). This formula accounts for the fact that the wet basis already includes both dry matter and moisture, so we need to adjust for the moisture percentage to get the dry matter alone.
