Convert moisture content from wet basis to anhydrous basis for agricultural, chemical, and industrial applications
Learn how to use the Anhydrous Basis Calculator for accurate moisture content conversion
This calculator is particularly useful in agricultural, chemical, and industrial applications where moisture content needs to be standardized. It helps in comparing materials with different moisture levels by converting them to an anhydrous (dry) basis.
Suppose you have a sample with a wet basis of 75% and moisture content of 15%. The anhydrous basis would be calculated as:
Anhydrous Basis = 75 / (1 - 15/100) = 75 / 0.85 ≈ 88.24%
The anhydrous basis is calculated by dividing the wet basis by (1 - moisture content/100). This formula accounts for the fact that the wet basis already includes both dry matter and moisture, so we need to adjust for the moisture percentage to get the dry matter alone.
