How to Use the Calculator

1. Enter the Total Water Consumed in millimeters (mm). This is the total amount of water consumed by the crop or system.
2. Enter the Total Evapotranspiration in millimeters (mm). This is the total amount of water evaporated and transpired by the crop or system.
3. Click the Calculate button to compute the Water Use Efficiency (WUE).
4. The result will be displayed as a dimensionless value. A higher WUE value indicates more efficient water use.

Understanding Water Use Efficiency (WUE)

Water Use Efficiency (WUE) is a measure of the productivity of plants in relation to the amount of water they use. It is calculated as the ratio of total water consumed to total evapotranspiration. WUE is an important metric in agriculture and hydrology for optimizing water use and improving crop yields.

Example Calculation

If a crop consumes 500 mm of water and the total evapotranspiration is 750 mm, the WUE would be:

WUE = 500 mm / 750 mm = 0.67

This means that 67% of the water used by the crop was effectively used for growth and production.
