Dry Matter Calculator Calculator Usage Guide

Learn how to use the Dry Matter Calculator calculator and its working principles

How to Use the Dry Matter Calculator

  1. Enter the wet weight of the substance in grams (g).
  2. Enter the moisture content of the substance as a percentage (%).
  3. Click the "Calculate" button to compute the dry matter content.
  4. The dry matter content will be displayed in grams (g).

Working Principle

The dry matter content of a substance is calculated by dividing the wet weight of the substance by the sum of 1 minus the moisture content divided by 100. This formula accounts for the moisture content and provides the weight of the substance excluding moisture.

Example

If you have a substance with a wet weight of 150 grams and a moisture content of 20%, the dry matter content would be calculated as follows:

Dry Matter = 150 / (1 - 20 / 100) = 150 / 0.8 = 187.5 grams
