Learn how to use the Magnification Angle Calculator and its working principles

How to Use This Calculator

  1. Enter the Object Distance (u) in centimeters.
  2. Enter the Image Distance (v) in centimeters.
  3. Enter the Focal Length (f) in centimeters.
  4. Click the "Calculate" button to compute the magnification and magnification angle.
  5. Click the "Reset" button to clear all input fields and results.

Working Principle

This calculator uses the lens formula to determine the magnification of an optical system:

1/f = 1/u + 1/v

Where:

  • f is the focal length of the lens
  • u is the object distance from the lens
  • v is the image distance from the lens

The magnification (m) is calculated as:

m = v / u

The magnification angle (θ) is then calculated using the arctangent function:

θ = arctan(m) * (180 / π)

Applications

This calculator can be used in various optical applications such as:

  • Calculating the magnification of magnifying glasses and microscopes
  • Determining the image formation in camera lenses
  • Designing optical instruments and systems

Notes

Ensure all distances are measured in centimeters for accurate results. The calculator assumes a thin lens approximation.
