Planet Mass Calculator Calculator Usage Guide

Learn how to use the Planet Mass Calculator and its working principles

How to Use the Calculator

  1. Enter the volume of the planet in cubic kilometers (km³).
  2. Enter the density of the planet in grams per cubic centimeter (g/cm³).
  3. Click the "Calculate" button to compute the mass of the planet.
  4. The result will be displayed in kilograms (kg).

Understanding the Formula

The calculator uses the formula:

Mass = Volume × Density

Where:

  • Mass is the mass of the planet in kilograms (kg).
  • Volume is the volume of the planet in cubic kilometers (km³).
  • Density is the density of the planet in grams per cubic centimeter (g/cm³).

Important Note: The density is converted from g/cm³ to kg/km³ in the calculation (1 g/cm³ = 1,000,000 kg/km³).

Example

If a planet has a volume of 1,000,000 km³ and a density of 5.5 g/cm³, the calculation would be:

Mass = 1,000,000 km³ × 5.5 g/cm³ = 5,500,000,000,000 kg
