Calculation Formula

Weight on Sun = Weight on Earth × (Mass of Sun / Mass of Earth) × (Radius of Earth / Radius of Sun)²

Where:
Mass of Sun ≈ 1.989 × 10^30 kg
Mass of Earth ≈ 5.972 × 10^24 kg
Radius of Earth ≈ 6.371 × 10^6 m
Radius of Sun ≈ 6.963 × 10^8 m

Learn how to use the Weight on the Sun Calculator calculator and its working principles

How to Use the Calculator

  1. Enter your weight on Earth in kilograms (kg) in the input field.
  2. Click the "Calculate" button to compute your weight on the Sun.
  3. The result will be displayed in the weight on Sun field.
  4. If you want to start over, click the "Reset" button.

Working Principle

This calculator uses the following formula to calculate your weight on the Sun:

Weight on Sun = Weight on Earth × (Mass of Sun / Mass of Earth) × (Radius of Earth / Radius of Sun)²

This formula accounts for the difference in gravitational pull between Earth and the Sun. The Sun's gravity is approximately 28 times stronger than Earth's gravity, but the distance from the Sun means that your weight would be about 27 times less than on Earth.

Example

If you weigh 70 kg on Earth, your weight on the Sun would be:

70 kg × (1.989 × 10^30 kg / 5.972 × 10^24 kg) × (6.371 × 10^6 m / 6.963 × 10^8 m)² ≈ 0.25 kg
