How to Use This Calculator

  3. Enter the distance from Source B to the receiver in meters.

Principle of Operation

The time delay between two audio sources is determined by the difference in distance each sound travels to reach the receiver. The formula used is:

Delay = |(DistanceB - DistanceA) / SpeedOfSound|

This means the time delay is directly proportional to the distance difference between the two sources and inversely proportional to the speed of sound.
