BPM reverb calculator

This calculator helps you determine the appropriate reverb settings based on your BPM (beats per minute). It can be used for audio mixing and mastering to achieve the desired ambiance and space.

BPM reverb calculator Calculator Usage Guide

Learn how to use the BPM reverb calculator and its working principles

How to Use the Calculator

  1. Enter the BPM (Beats Per Minute) of your track.
  2. Input the size of the room you are working with (in feet).
  3. Select the type of reverb that best fits your needs (Large Hall, Medium Room, or Small Room).
  4. Click the "Calculate" button to get the recommended reverb time (RT60) and decay rate.

Understanding the Results

The calculator provides two main results:

  • Reverb Time (RT60): This is the time it takes for the reverb to decay to -60 dB of its original level. A longer RT60 creates a more ambient and spacious sound, while a shorter RT60 results in a drier and more controlled sound.
  • Decay Rate: This is the rate at which the reverb decays in decibels per second. A higher decay rate means the reverb will fade out more quickly.

Principle Explanations

The calculator uses the formula RT60 = 0.23 * Room Size / sqrt(BPM) to estimate the reverb time. This formula takes into account the size of the room and the tempo of the music to provide a recommended reverb setting.
