How to Use the Gas Calculator

2. Enter the fuel efficiency of your vehicle in miles per gallon (mpg).

Working Principle

The Gas Calculator works by using the formula:

Total Cost = (Distance / Fuel Efficiency) * Gas Price

This formula calculates the total cost of gas for a trip based on the distance you will travel, the fuel efficiency of your vehicle, and the current price of gas.

Example

For example, if you are planning a trip of 300 miles, your vehicle has a fuel efficiency of 25 mpg, and the price of gas is $3.50 per gallon, the total cost of gas would be:

$300 / 25 * $3.50 = $42.00

And you would need 12 gallons of gas for the trip ($300 / 25 = 12 gallons).
