How to Use the Calculator
- Enter the Wheel Diameter of your wheel in inches.
- Enter the Backspacing of your wheel in inches. This is the distance from the wheel's mounting surface to the back edge of the rim.
- Enter the Rim Width of your wheel in inches. This is the width of the wheel rim from one edge to the other.
- Click the Calculate button to compute the wheel offset.
- The result will be displayed in inches. A positive offset means the mounting surface is closer to the outside of the wheel, while a negative offset means it's closer to the inside.
Understanding Wheel Offset (ET)
Wheel offset (ET) is a measurement that indicates how far the wheel's mounting surface is from the wheel's centerline. It affects the position of the wheel in relation to the suspension and body of the vehicle.
Why is Wheel Offset Important?
- Incorrect offset can cause handling issues, such as rubbing on suspension components or poor steering response.
- It affects the visual appearance of your vehicle's stance.
- Proper offset ensures the wheel is positioned correctly for optimal performance and safety.
Formula Used
The calculator uses the following formula to calculate wheel offset:
Offset (ET) = (Rim Width / 2) - Backspacing
