Calculate NBA Offensive Rating based on points scored, assists, and turnovers
Learn how to use the NBA Offensive Rating Calculator and its working principles
NBA Offensive Rating (OR) is a measure of a player's offensive efficiency per 100 possessions. It combines points scored, assists, and turnovers to provide a single rating that indicates how many points a player is expected to score per 100 possessions.
The formula for OR is:
OR = (Points + 0.4 * Assists - Turnovers) / 100
A higher OR indicates better offensive efficiency. For example, an OR of 15.0 means that the player is expected to score 15 points per 100 possessions.
If a player scores 110 points, 25 assists, and has 15 turnovers per 100 possessions, their OR would be calculated as follows:
OR = (110 + 0.4 * 25 - 15) / 100 = (110 + 10 - 15) / 100 = 105 / 100 = 1.05 OR
