Gas Bill Calculator Calculator Usage Guide

Learn how to use the Gas Bill Calculator and understand its calculation method

How to Use the Calculator

  1. Enter your gas consumption in cubic meters (m³)
  2. Enter the current gas rate per cubic meter (€/m³)
  3. Enter the VAT rate (default is 21%)
  4. Enter your standing charge per month (€)
  5. Click the "Calculate" button to see your estimated gas bill

Understanding the Calculation

The calculator works based on these simple steps:

  1. Calculate the energy cost by multiplying your consumption by the gas rate
  2. Add the standing charge (fixed monthly cost)
  3. Calculate VAT on the energy cost only (not on the standing charge)
  4. Add all these values to get your total gas bill

Example

If you consumed 200 m³ of gas at a rate of €0.15/m³, with a standing charge of €15 and VAT at 21%:

  • Energy cost: 200 × €0.15 = €30.00
  • VAT on energy: €30.00 × 21% = €6.30
  • Total bill: €30.00 + €15.00 + €6.30 = €51.30

Note: This calculator provides an estimate based on the inputs. For your actual bill, please refer to your gas provider's official statement.
