How to Use This Calculator
- Enter the total distance you have traveled since the last refueling in either kilometers or miles.
- Enter the amount of fuel you have used for that journey in liters.
- Click the "Calculate" button to determine your car's fuel consumption.
- The calculator will display your fuel consumption in both km/liter and liters/100km (or miles/gallon and gallons/100mi) depending on your unit selection.
Understanding the Results
The calculator shows two important metrics:
- Fuel Consumption (km/liter or miles/gallon): This tells you how much distance your car can travel per unit of fuel. Lower values indicate better efficiency.
- Fuel Efficiency (liters/100km or gallons/100mi): This is another common way to express fuel efficiency, showing how much fuel is needed to travel 100 units of distance. Lower values also indicate better efficiency.
Interpreting Your Results
Generally, the following benchmarks can be used as guidelines:
- Excellent: ≤ 8 km/liter (~30 mpg) or ≤ 12 miles/gallon (~20 mpg)
- Good: 8-12 km/liter (~30-20 mpg) or 12-20 miles/gallon (~20-30 mpg)
- High: > 12 km/liter (>20 mpg) or > 20 miles/gallon (>30 mpg)
Practical Tips for Better Fuel Efficiency
- Regular maintenance of your vehicle, including oil changes and tire pressure checks.
- Avoiding rapid acceleration and hard braking.
- Reducing unnecessary weight in your car.
- Using the correct fuel grade recommended for your vehicle.
- Planning efficient routes to minimize unnecessary travel.
