Calculation Formula

Energy (kWh) = Power (W) × Time (h) / 1000

Where:
Power (W) is the power consumption of the appliance in watts.
Time (h) is the time the appliance is used in hours.
Energy (kWh) is the energy consumed in kilowatt-hours.

Energy Calculator Calculator Usage Guide

Learn how to use the Energy Calculator calculator and its working principles

How to Use the Energy Calculator

  1. Enter the power consumption of your appliance in watts (W) in the "Power (Watts)" field.
  2. Enter the time the appliance will be used in hours (h) in the "Time (Hours)" field.
  3. Click the "Calculate" button to compute the energy consumed in kilowatt-hours (kWh).
  4. The result will be displayed in the "Energy Consumed (kWh)" field.

Example

If you have a 1000W heater and use it for 5 hours, the energy consumed would be:

Energy = 1000W × 5h / 1000 = 5 kWh

Principle

The calculator uses the formula: Energy (kWh) = Power (W) × Time (h) / 1000. This formula converts the power consumption from watts to kilowatt-hours, which is a common unit for measuring electrical energy consumption.
