Calculation Formula

Weight (kg) = Length (mm) × Width (mm) × Thickness (mm) ÷ 1000000 × Density (kg/m³)

Where:
- Length: Length of the steel plate in millimeters
- Width: Width of the steel plate in millimeters
- Thickness: Thickness of the steel plate in millimeters
- Density: Density of steel (standard value: 7850 kg/m³)

Steel Plate Weight Calculator Usage Guide

Learn how to use the Steel Plate Weight Calculator and understand its working principles

How to Use the Calculator

  1. Enter the Length of your steel plate in millimeters (mm).
  2. Enter the Width of your steel plate in millimeters (mm).
  3. Enter the Thickness of your steel plate in millimeters (mm).
  4. The calculator will automatically calculate the Volume in cubic centimeters (cm³) and the Weight in kilograms (kg).
  5. The standard density of steel used in calculations is 7850 kg/m³ (you can change this if needed).

Understanding the Formula

The calculator uses the following formula to calculate the weight of a steel plate:

Weight (kg) = Length (mm) × Width (mm) × Thickness (mm) ÷ 1,000,000 × Density (kg/m³)

The division by 1,000,000 converts cubic millimeters to cubic centimeters (1 mm³ = 0.000001 cm³).

Example Calculation

If you have a steel plate that is 2000 mm long, 1000 mm wide, and 10 mm thick:

  • Volume = 2000 × 1000 × 10 ÷ 1,000,000 = 20,000 cm³
  • Weight = 20,000 × 7850 = 157,000 kg
