Wind Chill Temperature

--°F

Calculation Formula

Twc = 35.74 + 0.6215T - 35.75(V0.16) + 0.4275T(V0.16)

Where:
Twc = Wind Chill Temperature
T = Actual temperature (°F)
V = Wind speed (mph)

  4. The wind chill temperature is displayed in °F

Understanding Wind Chill

Wind chill is a measure of how cold the air feels to humans, taking into account both temperature and wind speed. When the wind blows, it removes heat from the body at a faster rate, making it feel colder than the actual air temperature.

Important Notes

  • This calculator uses the National Weather Service wind chill formula, which is valid for temperatures at or below 50°F and wind speeds above 3 mph.
  • Wind chill temperatures below -50°F or -58°F are considered dangerous and can cause frostbite in as little as 30 minutes.
  • For temperatures above 50°F, the wind chill is essentially the same as the actual temperature.
