Understanding the Results

The calculator provides two main results:

  • Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR): The number of calories your body needs to perform basic functions at rest.
  • Inactive Calories Burned: The estimated number of calories burned based on your BMR and sedentary activity level.

Formula Explanation

The calculator uses the Mifflin-St Jeor equation to estimate your BMR:

For males: BMR = 10 × weight (kg) + 6.25 × height (cm) - 5 × age (years) + 5

For females: BMR = 10 × weight (kg) + 6.25 × height (cm) - 5 × age (years) - 161

The inactive calories burned are then calculated by multiplying the BMR by the selected sedentary activity factor.
