Calculation Formula

Bond Length = Radius1 + Radius2

Where:
Radius1 = Van der Waals radius of Atom 1
Radius2 = Van der Waals radius of Atom 2

Bond Length Calculator Calculator Usage Guide

Learn how to use the Bond Length Calculator calculator and its working principles

How to Use the Calculator

  1. Enter the van der Waals radius of Atom 1 in angstroms (Å).
  2. Enter the van der Waals radius of Atom 2 in angstroms (Å).
  3. Click the "Calculate" button to compute the bond length.
  4. The bond length will be displayed in angstroms (Å).

Working Principle

The bond length between two atoms is calculated as the sum of their van der Waals radii. The van der Waals radius is a measure of the size of an atom and is used to estimate the distance between the nuclei of two non-bonded atoms.

Example

If the van der Waals radius of Atom 1 is 1.5 Å and the van der Waals radius of Atom 2 is 2.0 Å, the bond length will be calculated as 1.5 Å + 2.0 Å = 3.5 Å.
