How to Use This Calculator
- Enter the volume of ethanol in liters in the first input field.
- The density of ethanol is pre-filled at 0.789 g/mL (for ethanol at 20°C). You can change this value if needed.
- Click the "Calculate" button to convert the volume to mass.
- The mass of ethanol in grams will be displayed in the result field.
Working Principle
This calculator uses the formula:
Mass (g) = Volume (L) × Density (g/mL) × 1000
Since 1 liter = 1000 milliliters, we multiply the result of Volume × Density by 1000 to get the mass in grams.
Usage Examples
- Example 1: If you have 2 liters of ethanol with the standard density, the mass would be 2 × 0.789 × 1000 = 1578 grams.
- Example 2: If you have 0.5 liters of ethanol with a density of 0.79 g/mL, the mass would be 0.5 × 0.79 × 1000 = 395 grams.
Important Notes
- The default density used is for ethanol at 20°C. The density of ethanol varies with temperature, so you may need to adjust this value if your ethanol is at a different temperature.
- For more accurate results, ensure you know the exact temperature of your ethanol, as density changes with temperature.
