Calculation Formula

Distance (meters) = c / (2 × f)

Where:
c = Speed of light (3 × 108 m/s)
f = Frequency (Hz)

Radio Frequency to Distance Calculator Usage Guide

Learn how to use the Radio Frequency to Distance Calculator and its working principles

How to Use This Calculator

  1. Enter the radio frequency in Hertz (Hz). For example, if you're using a 2.4 GHz signal, enter 2.4e9 Hz.
  2. Click the "Calculate" button to compute the distance.
  3. The result will be displayed in meters.

Working Principle

This calculator uses the relationship between radio frequency and the speed of light to determine distance. Radio waves travel at the speed of light. By measuring the time it takes for a signal to travel to a target and back, we can calculate the distance using the formula:

Distance = Speed of Light / (2 × Frequency)

This formula assumes a two-way travel time (to and from the target).

Example

If you enter a frequency of 2.4 GHz (2.4 × 109 Hz), the calculator will determine that the distance is:

Distance = 3 × 108 m/s / (2 × 2.4 × 109 Hz) ≈ 0.0625 meters
