How to Use the Calculator
- Enter the diameter of the rebar in millimeters (mm). Standard rebar diameters range from 6mm to 100mm.
- Enter the length of the rebar in meters (m). You can enter partial lengths as well.
- Click the "Calculate" button to compute the weight of the rebar.
- The result will be displayed in kilograms (kg).
Understanding the Calculation
The weight of rebar is calculated using the formula:
Weight (kg) = π × (d²/4) × L × ρ
Where:
- π is the mathematical constant Pi (approximately 3.14159)
- d is the diameter of the rebar in millimeters (mm)
- L is the length of the rebar in meters (m)
- ρ is the density of steel (approximately 7850 kg/m³)
Example
If you have a 10mm diameter rebar that is 5 meters long:
Weight = 3.14159 × (10²/4) × 5 × 7850
Weight = 3.14159 × (100/4) × 5 × 7850
Weight = 3.14159 × 25 × 5 × 7850
Weight = 3.14159 × 125 × 7850 ≈ 30,841.75 kg
Applications
This calculator is useful for:
- Estimating material requirements for construction projects
- Calculating freight costs
- Planning storage space
- Ensuring you have the correct amount of rebar for your project
