Calculation Formula

Volume (V) = Mass (m) / Specific Gravity (SG)

Where:
V = Volume (m³)
m = Mass (kg)
SG = Specific Gravity (dimensionless)

Specific Gravity To Volume Calculator Usage Guide

Learn how to use the Specific Gravity To Volume Calculator and its working principles

How to Use the Calculator

  1. Enter the mass of the substance in kilograms (kg) in the "Mass" field.
  2. Enter the specific gravity of the substance in the "Specific Gravity" field.
  3. Click the "Calculate" button to compute the volume.
  4. The calculated volume in cubic meters (m³) will be displayed in the "Volume" field.

Understanding Specific Gravity

Specific gravity is a dimensionless quantity that compares the density of a substance to the density of a reference substance, typically water at 4°C (which has a density of 1000 kg/m³). It is defined as:

SG = Density of Substance / Density of Water

Example

If you have a mass of 500 kg of a substance with a specific gravity of 2.5, the volume can be calculated as:

Volume = 500 kg / 2.5 = 200 m³
