How to Use the Gravy Ratio Calculator

The Gravy Ratio Calculator helps you determine the amount of gravy to make based on the amount of fat and flour you have. Follow these steps to use the calculator:

  1. Enter the amount of fat you have in cups in the "Amount of Fat" field.
  2. Enter the amount of flour you have in cups in the "Amount of Flour" field.
  3. Click the "Calculate" button to compute the total amount of gravy and the amount of water needed.
  4. The results will be displayed in the "Results" section.

Understanding the Formula

The calculator uses the following formula to calculate the total amount of gravy:

Gravy Ratio = (Fat Amount / 2) + Flour Amount

This means that for every cup of fat, you need half a cup of gravy, and you add the amount of flour you have to get the total gravy amount. The amount of water needed is the total gravy minus the flour amount.

Example

If you have 2 cups of fat and 1 cup of flour, the calculator will determine that you need 1.5 cups of water to make 3 cups of gravy.
