Stair Calculator Design and Construction

This calculator helps you design and construct stairs by calculating the rise, run, and total number of steps required based on the height of the staircase and desired step height.

Input Parameters

Calculation Formula

Number of Steps = Total Height / Desired Step Height

Where:
- Total Height: The vertical height of the staircase.
- Desired Step Height: The height of each step.
- Number of Steps: The total number of steps in the staircase.

Total Number of Steps:

0

Actual Step Height:

0

Total Run (Horizontal Distance):

0

Stair Calculator Design and Construction Calculator Usage Guide

Learn how to use the Stair Calculator Design and Construction calculator and its working principles

How to Use the Stair Calculator

  1. Enter the Total Height of the staircase in inches or centimeters.
  2. Specify the Desired Step Height you want for each step.
  3. Input the Tread Depth (horizontal distance from the front of the step to the riser).
  4. Provide the Riser Width (vertical distance from the top of one step to the top of the next step).
  5. Click the Calculate button to get the total number of steps, actual step height, and total run of the staircase.
  6. Use the Reset button to clear all inputs and start over.

Working Principle

The calculator uses the following formulas:

  • Total Number of Steps = Total Height / Desired Step Height
  • Actual Step Height = Total Height / Total Number of Steps
  • Total Run = Tread Depth * Total Number of Steps

Ensure that the actual step height and total run meet local building codes and safety standards before constructing your staircase.
