Calculation Formula

MPG = Distance Traveled / Fuel Consumed

Where:
MPG = Miles Per Gallon
Distance Traveled = Total distance covered in miles
Fuel Consumed = Total fuel consumed in gallons

Understanding Fuel Efficiency

Fuel efficiency is a measure of how well a vehicle uses fuel. It is commonly expressed in miles per gallon (MPG), which indicates the number of miles a vehicle can travel per one gallon of fuel.

Higher MPG values indicate better fuel efficiency, meaning the vehicle uses less fuel to travel the same distance compared to vehicles with lower MPG values.

Example Calculation

If a vehicle traveled 300 miles and consumed 10 gallons of fuel, the fuel efficiency would be:

MPG = 300 miles / 10 gallons = 30 MPG
