How to Use the Gas Calculator
- Enter the total distance of your trip in miles (e.g., 150 for 150 miles).
- Enter your vehicle's fuel efficiency in miles per gallon (mpg) (e.g., 25 for 25 mpg).
- Enter the current price of fuel per gallon (e.g., 3.50 for $3.50 per gallon).
- Click the "Calculate" button to see the estimated fuel cost and gallons needed.
- Click "Reset" to clear all inputs and start over.
Understanding the Results
The calculator provides two key results:
- Estimated Fuel Cost: The total cost of fuel for your trip based on the distance, fuel efficiency, and current fuel price.
- Gallons of Fuel Needed: The total amount of fuel required for your trip.
Example Calculation
For example, if you're planning a 300-mile trip in a car that gets 30 mpg, and the fuel price is $4.00 per gallon:
- Distance = 300 miles
- Fuel Efficiency = 30 mpg
- Fuel Price = $4.00 per gallon
- Gallons Needed = 300 ÷ 30 = 10 gallons
- Cost = 10 × $4.00 = $40.00
Important Notes
- This calculator provides an estimate based on the inputs provided. Actual costs may vary.
- The fuel efficiency of your vehicle may vary depending on driving conditions and vehicle maintenance.
- Always check current fuel prices before planning your trip.
