Learn how to use the Induction Motor Torque Calculator and its working principles

How to Use the Calculator

  1. Enter the motor power in kilowatts (kW)
  2. Input the line voltage in volts (V)
  3. Specify the motor efficiency as a percentage (%)
  4. Enter the power factor (PF) of the motor
  5. Input the motor speed in revolutions per minute (rpm)
  6. Click the "Calculate" button to compute the torque
  7. The calculated torque will be displayed in newton-meters (Nm)

Working Principle

The torque of an induction motor is calculated using the formula:

Torque (T) = (Power × 9550) / (2π × Speed)

This formula converts the motor's power output to torque based on its operating speed. The constant 9550 is used to convert kilowatts to newton-meters, and π represents the mathematical constant pi.

Important Notes

  • Ensure all input values are in the correct units
  • The power factor should be between 0 and 1
  • The motor efficiency should be between 0% and 100%
  • This calculator provides an estimate based on the input parameters
