Learn how to use the Cost Per Therm Calculator calculator and its working principles

How to Use the Calculator

  1. Enter your monthly gas usage in CCF (hundred cubic feet).
  2. Enter your average monthly gas cost in dollars.
  3. Click the "Calculate" button to determine the cost per therm.
  4. The result will be displayed in dollars per therm ($/therm).

Understanding the Formula

The cost per therm is calculated by dividing your average monthly gas cost by your monthly gas usage (in therm). Since 1 CCF is approximately equal to 100 therm, we multiply the usage by 100 to convert it to therm.

Formula: Cost Per Therm = Average Monthly Cost / (Monthly Gas Usage * 100)

Example

If your monthly gas usage is 20 CCF and your average monthly cost is $200, the cost per therm would be:

$200 / (20 * 100) = $200 / 2000 = $0.10/therm
