Calculation Formula

Energy (kWh) = Power (W) × Time (h) / 1000

Where:
Power (W) is the power consumption in watts.
Time (h) is the duration in hours.
1000 is used to convert watts to kilowatts.

Watts to Energy Calculator Usage Guide

Learn how to use the Watts to Energy Calculator and its working principles

How to Use the Calculator

  1. Enter the power consumption in watts (W) in the "Power" field.
  2. Enter the duration in hours (h) for which the power is consumed in the "Time" field.
  3. Click the "Calculate" button to compute the energy consumption in kilowatt-hours (kWh).
  4. The result will be displayed in the "Energy" field.

Working Principle

The calculator uses the formula:

Energy (kWh) = Power (W) × Time (h) / 1000

This formula converts power from watts to energy in kilowatt-hours by multiplying the power consumption by the time duration and then dividing by 1000 to convert watts to kilowatts.

Example

If a device consumes 500 watts of power and is used for 10 hours, the energy consumption would be:

Energy (kWh) = 500 W × 10 h / 1000 = 5 kWh

This means that the device would consume 5 kilowatt-hours of energy in 10 hours.
