Fuel Price Calculator

Calculate the total cost of fuel based on distance, fuel efficiency, and fuel price.

Input Parameters

Calculation Formula

Total Cost = (Distance / Fuel Efficiency) * Fuel Price

Where:
Distance: The total distance to be traveled in miles.
Fuel Efficiency: The miles per gallon (mpg) your vehicle can achieve.
Fuel Price: The cost of one gallon of fuel in dollars ($).

Fuel Price Calculator Calculator Usage Guide

Learn how to use the Fuel Price Calculator calculator and its working principles

How to Use the Calculator

  1. Enter the total distance you plan to travel in miles.
  2. Enter the fuel efficiency of your vehicle in miles per gallon (mpg).
  3. Enter the current price of fuel per gallon.
  4. Click the "Calculate" button to compute the total fuel cost.
  5. The result will be displayed in dollars ($).

Working Principle

The calculator works by first determining the total amount of fuel needed for the trip (distance / fuel efficiency) and then multiplying that by the cost per gallon of fuel to find the total cost.

Example

For example, if you plan to travel 300 miles in a car that gets 25 mpg and the fuel price is $3.50 per gallon:

  • Total fuel needed: 300 miles / 25 mpg = 12 gallons
  • Total cost: 12 gallons * $3.50/gallon = $42.00
