Calculation Formula

Pavement Temperature (°C) = Air Temperature (°C) + 0.1 * Solar Radiation (W/m²)

Where:
- Air Temperature: The ambient air temperature in degrees Celsius.
- Solar Radiation: The amount of solar radiation in watts per square meter.

Pavement Temperature Calculator Usage Guide

Learn how to use the Pavement Temperature Calculator and its working principles

How to Use the Calculator

  1. Enter the air temperature in degrees Celsius.
  2. Enter the solar radiation in watts per square meter.
  3. Click the "Calculate" button to compute the pavement temperature.
  4. The result will be displayed in the Pavement Temperature field.

Working Principle

The calculator uses a simple linear model to estimate pavement temperature based on air temperature and solar radiation. The formula used is:

Pavement Temperature (°C) = Air Temperature (°C) + 0.1 * Solar Radiation (W/m²)

This formula assumes that the pavement temperature increases by 0.1°C for every 1 W/m² of solar radiation, in addition to the air temperature.

Applications

This calculator can be used by civil engineers, construction workers, and researchers to estimate the temperature of pavement surfaces, which is important for various applications such as road safety, material selection, and maintenance planning.
