How to Use the Calculator
- Enter the total area you want to cover in square feet (e.g., 100 for a 10x10 foot area).
- Enter the size of the pebbles in inches (e.g., 3 for 3-inch diameter pebbles).
- Click the "Calculate" button to determine the number of pebbles needed.
- The result will be displayed as the minimum number of pebbles required.
Working Principle
The calculator uses the following formula to determine the number of pebbles needed:
Number of Pebbles = Area / (π * (Pebble Size / 12)²)
This formula calculates the coverage area of each pebble (in square feet) and divides the total area to be covered by this coverage area to determine the number of pebbles needed.
Important Notes
- The result is rounded up to the nearest whole number since you can't purchase a fraction of a pebble.
- This calculator assumes pebbles are placed in a grid pattern with no gaps between them.
- For irregularly shaped areas, you may need to calculate the area in sections and sum the results.
- Consider adding a small buffer (e.g., 10-15%) to your calculation to account for cutting and waste.
