Learn how to use the Sod Coverage Calculator calculator and its working principles

How to Use the Sod Coverage Calculator

  1. Enter the total area you want to cover in square feet (sq ft).
  2. Enter the width of a single sod roll in feet (ft).
  3. Enter the length of a single sod roll in feet (ft).
  4. Click the "Calculate" button to determine the number of sod rolls needed.

Working Principle

The calculator determines the number of sod rolls needed by dividing the total area to be covered by the area of one sod roll (calculated by multiplying the width and length of the roll). The result is rounded up to the nearest whole number to ensure complete coverage.

Example

If you need to cover an area of 1000 sq ft with sod rolls that are 3 ft wide and 5 ft long, the calculator will determine that you need 7 sod rolls (1000 / (3 * 5) = 66.67, rounded up to 67).
