Calculation Formula

The phenotypic ratio is calculated based on Mendelian genetics principles.

Where:
- Dominant phenotype (D) is represented by the allele D.
- Recessive phenotype (R) is represented by the allele r.

How to Use the Phenotypic Ratio Calculator

  1. Choose the phenotype for Parent 1 from the dropdown menu (Dominant or Recessive).
  2. Choose the phenotype for Parent 2 from the dropdown menu (Dominant or Recessive).
  3. Click the "Calculate" button to compute the expected phenotypic ratio.
  4. The result will be displayed in the "Phenotypic Ratio" field.

Working Principle

The Phenotypic Ratio Calculator is based on Mendelian genetics principles. When two parents with known genotypes are crossed, the calculator predicts the expected phenotypic ratios of their offspring.

For example, if both parents are heterozygous (Dd) for a dominant trait, the expected phenotypic ratio is 3:1 (Dominant:Recessive). If both parents are homozygous dominant (DD) or homozygous recessive (dd), the expected phenotypic ratio is 1:1 (Dominant:Recessive).
