Pipe slope is expressed as a percentage and indicates how much the pipe drops vertically for every foot of horizontal distance. It's crucial for ensuring proper drainage in plumbing and irrigation systems.

Typical Pipe Slopes

  • Drainage pipes: 1/4% to 2% (0.25% to 2%) - Ensures water flows toward the drain
  • Irrigation pipes: 0.5% to 2% (0.5% to 2%) - Prevents water pooling and ensures uniform distribution
  • Plumbing pipes: 1/8% to 1/4% (0.125% to 0.25%) - Ensures proper drainage without excessive flow

Important Notes

Always ensure your pipe slope is sufficient for proper drainage but not so steep that water flows too quickly (which can cause erosion or clogging). The minimum slope for drainage pipes is typically 1/4%.
