Understanding Sleep Efficiency

Sleep efficiency is a measure of how much time you spend sleeping while in bed. It is calculated as a percentage of the total time spent in bed. A sleep efficiency of 85% or higher is generally considered good, while below 80% may indicate issues with sleep quality or bed-wake cycles.

Interpreting Results

  • 90-100%: Excellent sleep quality
  • 80-89%: Good sleep quality
  • 70-79%: Fair sleep quality
  • < 70%: Poor sleep quality

If your sleep efficiency is low, it may be helpful to:

  • Improve sleep hygiene practices
  • Create a comfortable sleep environment
  • Manage stress and anxiety
  • Limit caffeine and heavy meals before bedtime
