Understanding Sleep Efficiency
Sleep efficiency is a measure of how much time you spend sleeping while in bed. It is calculated as a percentage of the total time spent in bed. A sleep efficiency of 85% or higher is generally considered good, while below 80% may indicate issues with sleep quality or bed-wake cycles.
Interpreting Results
- 90-100%: Excellent sleep quality
- 80-89%: Good sleep quality
- 70-79%: Fair sleep quality
- < 70%: Poor sleep quality
If your sleep efficiency is low, it may be helpful to:
- Improve sleep hygiene practices
- Create a comfortable sleep environment
- Manage stress and anxiety
- Limit caffeine and heavy meals before bedtime
