Calculation Formula

B = (μ₀ * N * I) / L

Where:
B = Magnetic field strength (Tesla, T)
μ₀ = Permeability of free space (4π × 10⁻⁷ T·m/A)
N = Number of turns
I = Current in Amperes (A)
L = Length of the coil in meters (m)

Result

Magnet Power Calculator Calculator Usage Guide

Learn how to use the Magnet Power Calculator calculator and its working principles

How to Use the Calculator

  1. Enter the current (I) in Amperes (A) flowing through the coil.
  2. Enter the number of turns (N) in the coil.
  3. Enter the length (L) of the coil in meters (m).
  4. Click the "Calculate" button to compute the magnetic field strength (B).
  5. The result will be displayed in Tesla (T).

Working Principle

The magnetic field strength (B) generated by a coil can be calculated using the formula B = (μ₀ * N * I) / L, where:

  • B is the magnetic field strength in Tesla (T).
  • μ₀ is the permeability of free space, approximately 4π × 10⁻⁷ T·m/A.
  • N is the number of turns in the coil.
  • I is the current in Amperes (A).
  • L is the length of the coil in meters (m).

Example

If a coil has 100 turns, a current of 2 Amperes flows through it, and the length of the coil is 0.1 meters, the magnetic field strength would be:

B = (4π × 10⁻⁷ T·m/A * 100 * 2 A) / 0.1 m = 2.513 × 10⁻³ T
