How to use the calculator
- Enter the length of one side of the cube in the input field labeled "Side Length (a)". Make sure to use a positive number.
- Click the "Calculate" button to compute the surface area and volume.
- The results will be displayed in the corresponding fields:
- Surface Area (SA) = 6 × a²
- Volume (V) = a³
- Click "Reset" to clear all input fields and results.
Understanding Cube Measurements
A cube is a three-dimensional shape with six square faces, where all sides are of equal length. The formulas used in this calculator are:
- Surface Area: The total area covering the outer surface of the cube. Since a cube has 6 identical square faces, the surface area is calculated as 6 × a², where 'a' is the length of one side.
- Volume: The amount of space enclosed by the cube. It is calculated as a³ (a × a × a), where 'a' is the length of one side.
Example
If a cube has a side length of 4 units:
- Surface Area = 6 × 4² = 6 × 16 = 96 units²
- Volume = 4³ = 4 × 4 × 4 = 64 units³
Note: Ensure consistent units for all measurements. The calculator displays results in the same units squared for surface area and cubed for volume.
