Understanding the Clo Value

The Clo value is a unit of measurement used to quantify the thermal resistance of clothing systems. It helps in determining the appropriate clothing for different environmental temperatures, especially in cold climates. A higher Clo value indicates better insulation against cold.

Example

If you have a clothing layer with a thickness of 5 mm, the Clo value would be calculated as follows:
