Convert grams of a substance to parts per million (ppm) in a solution or mixture
Learn how to use the Grams To Parts Per Million Calculator calculator and its working principles
Parts per million (ppm) is a unit of measurement used to express very dilute concentrations of substances in solutions or mixtures. It represents one part of a solute in one million parts of a solution. For example, 1 ppm is equivalent to 1 milligram per liter (mg/L) of solution if the density of the solution is approximately 1 g/mL.
If you have 0.5 grams of salt dissolved in 1000 kilograms of water, the concentration in ppm would be calculated as follows:
ppm = (0.5 grams / 1000 kilograms) × 1,000,000 = 500 ppm
