Pot Volume Calculator

Calculate the volume of a pot (cylindrical or hemispherical) using its dimensions

Input Parameters

Calculation Results

Calculation Formula

V = πr²h (for cylindrical) or V = (2/3)πr³ (for hemispherical)

Where:
V = Volume
π = Pi (approximately 3.14159)
r = Radius
h = Height (for cylindrical only)

Result

Volume: - cm³

Pot Volume Calculator Calculator Usage Guide

Learn how to use the Pot Volume Calculator calculator and its working principles

How to Use This Calculator

  1. Select the pot type from the dropdown menu (Cylindrical or Hemispherical).
  2. Enter the radius of the pot in centimeters. This is the distance from the center of the base to the outer edge.
  3. If you selected a cylindrical pot, also enter the height in centimeters. This is the vertical distance from the base to the top.
  4. Click the "Calculate" button to compute the volume.
  5. The calculator will display the volume in cubic centimeters (cm³).

Understanding Pot Types

Cylindrical Pot: Has a circular base and straight sides, like a traditional flower pot. The volume is calculated as πr²h, where r is the radius and h is the height.

Hemispherical Pot: Has a rounded top like a half-sphere. The volume is calculated as (2/3)πr³, where r is the radius.

Applications

This calculator can be used by gardeners to determine how much soil is needed for a pot, by potters to understand material requirements, or in educational settings to teach volume calculations.
