Belt Speed Calculator

Calculate the linear speed of a conveyor belt based on wheel diameter and RPM

Input Parameters

Calculation Results

Calculation Formula

Belt Speed = π × Diameter × RPM / 12 (for inches) or π × Diameter × RPM (for mm)

Where:
π = 3.14159
Diameter = Wheel diameter in inches or mm
RPM = Rotations Per Minute

Result

Belt Speed: 0 units

Belt Speed Calculator Calculator Usage Guide

Learn how to use the Belt Speed Calculator and its working principles

How to Use the Belt Speed Calculator

  1. Enter the diameter of the wheel (in inches or mm) that the conveyor belt runs on.
  2. Enter the rotations per minute (RPM) of the wheel.
  3. Click the "Calculate" button to compute the linear speed of the belt.
  4. The result will be displayed in feet per minute if you entered inches, or mm per minute if you entered mm.

Working Principle

The linear speed of a conveyor belt can be calculated by multiplying the circumference of the wheel (π × diameter) by the number of rotations per minute. The formula is:

Belt Speed = π × Diameter × RPM

For imperial units (inches), the result is divided by 12 to convert from inches per revolution to feet per minute.

Applications

This calculator is useful for:

  • Designing conveyor systems
  • Calculating material handling rates
  • Ensuring proper synchronization with other machinery
  • Performing maintenance and troubleshooting conveyor systems
