Calculation Formula

Fulcrum Force (F) = (W1 × d1) + (W2 × d2)

Where:
F = Fulcrum Force (N)
W1 = Weight 1 (kg)
d1 = Distance from fulcrum to Weight 1 (m)
W2 = Weight 2 (kg)
d2 = Distance from fulcrum to Weight 2 (m)

Result

Fulcrum Force (F) = 0.00 N

Learn how to use the Fulcrum force calculator and its working principles

How to use the calculator

  1. Enter the weight (W1) of the first object in kilograms (kg).
  2. Enter the distance (d1) from the fulcrum to the first object in meters (m).
  3. Enter the weight (W2) of the second object in kilograms (kg).
  4. Enter the distance (d2) from the fulcrum to the second object in meters (m).
  5. Click the "Calculate" button to compute the fulcrum force required to balance the lever system.
  6. The result will be displayed in Newtons (N).

Working Principle

The fulcrum force calculator is based on the principle of moments (torque). For a lever to be in balance, the sum of the moments (force × distance) on one side of the fulcrum must equal the sum of the moments on the other side:

W1 × d1 = W2 × d2

But to find the fulcrum force, we use:

F = W1 × d1 + W2 × d2

This formula calculates the total force required at the fulcrum to balance the lever system.
