Glycogen Energy Calculator

This calculator estimates the total energy available from glycogen based on body weight and glycogen storage capacity.

Calculation Formula

Energy (kcal) = Body Weight (kg) × Glycogen Storage (g/kg) × 4

Where:
Body Weight (kg): Weight of the individual in kilograms.
Glycogen Storage (g/kg): Amount of glycogen stored per kilogram of body weight in grams.
4: Conversion factor from grams of glycogen to calories (1 gram of glycogen ≈ 4 calories).

Learn how to use the Glycogen Energy Calculator calculator and its working principles

How to Use the Calculator

  1. Enter your body weight in kilograms (kg) in the "Body Weight (kg)" field.
  2. Enter the amount of glycogen stored per kilogram of body weight in grams (g/kg) in the "Glycogen Storage (g/kg)" field.
  3. Click the "Calculate" button to compute the total energy available from glycogen.
  4. The result will be displayed in the "Total Energy Available (kcal)" field.

Understanding the Formula

The calculator uses the following formula to estimate the total energy available from glycogen:

Energy (kcal) = Body Weight (kg) × Glycogen Storage (g/kg) × 4

This formula multiplies your body weight by the amount of glycogen stored per kilogram of body weight and then converts the result from grams to calories (1 gram of glycogen ≈ 4 calories).

Example

If you weigh 70 kg and store 80 g of glycogen per kilogram of body weight, the total energy available from glycogen would be:

70 kg × 80 g/kg × 4 = 22,400 kcal
