Understanding the formula

The calculator uses the following formula to estimate the daily fluid requirement for babies:

Daily Fluid Requirement (mL) = 150 mL + (60 mL/kg × weight)

This formula provides a baseline fluid requirement (150 mL) for all babies and adds an additional amount based on the baby's weight. The additional amount is calculated as 60 mL per kilogram of body weight.
