Understanding the Calculation

The calculator follows the standard bowling scoring rules:

  • Strike: If you knock down all 10 pins in the first roll of a frame, it is a strike. The score for the frame is 10 plus the sum of the pins knocked down in the next two rolls.
  • Spare: If you knock down all 10 pins in two rolls of a frame, it is a spare. The score for the frame is 10 plus the pins knocked down in the next roll.
  • Open Frame: If you do not knock down all 10 pins in two rolls of a frame, it is an open frame. The score for the frame is the sum of the pins knocked down in the two rolls.
