Understanding the inputs

The calculator uses five key metrics to determine your net win rate:

  • Service Points Won (%): The percentage of your service games that you win.
  • Service Net Points Won (%): Of the service games you reach the net in, what percentage do you win?
  • Return Points Won (%): The percentage of your return games that you win.
  • Return Net Points Won (%): Of the return games you reach the net in, what percentage do you win?
  • Service Advantage (%): This factor adjusts the calculation based on whether serving or returning is generally more advantageous for you in matches.

Principles of the calculation

The calculator uses a weighted average approach where:

  • Service performance is weighted by your service advantage
  • Return performance is weighted by the opposite of your service advantage

This model assumes that players who are stronger at serving tend to win more points when serving, while players who are stronger at returning tend to win more points when returning.
