Learn how to use the Nozzle reaction force calculator and its working principles

How to use this calculator

  1. Enter the flow rate of your fluid (Q) in cubic meters per second (m³/s)
  2. Input the density of your fluid (ρ) in kilograms per cubic meter (kg/m³)
  3. Provide the velocity of the nozzle exit (V) in meters per second (m/s)
  4. Click the "Calculate" button to determine the reaction force
  5. The result will be displayed in Newtons (N)

Working principle

The reaction force in a nozzle is produced due to the change in momentum of the fluid as it exits the nozzle. According to Newton's third law, for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. The formula used in this calculator is:

F = ρ × Q × V

This formula calculates the force based on the product of fluid density, flow rate, and nozzle velocity. The reaction force acts in the direction opposite to the fluid flow.

Example application

This calculator can be used in various engineering applications including:

  • Designing rocket and jet engine nozzles
  • Calculating forces in water jet cutting systems
  • Analyzing fluid flow in industrial喷嘴 systems
  • Engineering simulations for fluid dynamics
