Molarity to Weight Percent Conversion Calculator

This calculator converts molarity (moles per liter) to weight percent (grams per 100 grams of solution). It is useful in chemistry for determining the concentration of solutions.

Calculation Formula

Weight Percent (%) = (Molarity × Molar Mass × 10) / Density

Where:
Molarity (M) = moles of solute per liter of solution
Molar Mass = mass of one mole of solute (g/mol)
Density = density of the solution (g/mL), assumed to be 1 g/mL for water

Molarity to Weight Percent Conversion Calculator Usage Guide

Learn how to use the Molarity to Weight Percent Conversion Calculator and its working principles

How to Use the Calculator

  1. Enter the molarity (M) of the solution in moles per liter (mol/L).
  2. Enter the molar mass of the solute in grams per mole (g/mol).
  3. Click the "Calculate" button to compute the weight percent.
  4. The weight percent is displayed in the result field.

Working Principle

The calculator uses the formula:

Weight Percent (%) = (Molarity × Molar Mass × 10) / Density

For water-based solutions, the density is assumed to be 1 g/mL, simplifying the calculation to:

Weight Percent (%) = Molarity × Molar Mass × 10

Example

If you have a 0.5 M solution of NaCl (molar mass = 58.44 g/mol), the weight percent would be:

Weight Percent (%) = 0.5 × 58.44 × 10 = 292.2%

However, this result seems unreasonably high, indicating that the density assumption may need adjustment for non-aqueous solutions.
